Education, Skills and Training Deprivation

In the Education, Skills & Training domain of the Indices of Deprivation 2015 North Yorkshire has 39 Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) in the most deprived quintile in England.

The domain looks at both the education of children and young people and adult skills.

The domain is composed of two sub-domains - Adult Skills which is produced using data on adults with no or low qualification and English language proficiency among adults; and Children & Young People which is calculated using figures on Key Stage 2 & 4 attainment; secondary school absence; staying on in post 16 education; and entry into higher education.

For Adult Skills the most deprived North Yorkshire LSOAs largely reflect those which are most deprived in the overall IMD but also include the LSOAs which cover Malton and Norton-on-Derwent
