Employment Deprivation

In the Employment domain of the Indices of Deprivation 2015 North Yorkshire has 23 Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) in the most deprived quintile in England.

These largely reflect the LSOAs which are the most deprived in the overall Index of Multiple Deprivation but also include part of Northallerton – the area around Meadow Lane and Forest Road.

The Employment domain is calculated using data on claimants aged 18-59/64 of Jobseeker's Allowance (both contribution-based and income-based); Employment and Support Allowance; Incapacity Benefit; Severe Disablement Allowance; and Carers Allowance.
